## Synopsis

Nobel (2016) is a Norwegian national-television political thriller miniseries created by Mette M. Bølstad, Per-Olav Sørensen and Stephen Uhlander for NRK1. Lieutenant Erling Riiser (Aksel Hennie) comes home to Norway after a troubled stay in Afghanistan, where several soldiers went missing from a Hercules plane, and within a single day in Oslo he receives word that an old acquaintance from his tour is in the city, a sign that a woman's life is in danger. His engine is a race to protect her while untangling what went wrong overseas. Johanne Riiser (Tuva Novotny) stands close to the center of the danger, and Anders Danielsen Lie plays Jon Petter Hals, one of the figures tied to the mission. The series unfolds across seven roughly 45-minute episodes that form one continuous story, with each hour built from tense pursuits, interrogations, and shifting alliances that tighten around a government secret. Its register is cold, grim and watchful, with a steady undercurrent of paranoia and moral strain. Set in present-day Norway and Afghanistan, it gives a grounded look at veterans and the state that sent them. Fans of Homeland, Occupied and The Killing will find resonance in its espionage tension and Nordic gloom.
