## Synopsis

Breaking the Magician's Code: Magic's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed (2008-2009) is an American reality documentary series created by Val Valentino and Bruce Nash for MyNetworkTV. Its masked host, the Masked Magician Val Valentino, steps forward to defy fellow conjurers by disclosing the methods behind illusions that audiences have marveled at for centuries. Assistants Allie Cohen, Lyndsay Haldorson, Samantha Faye Lee, Lauren Melendez and Paige Peterson take part in the staged demonstrations, while Mitch Pileggi narrates the thirteen-episode single season. Each forty-five-minute episode is built from a trick performed, then slowed down and dismantled piece by piece, so the engine of the show is the tension between wonder and exposure. The format is a single-season, case-by-case reveal rather than a continuing story. Set in the present-day United States, the show carries a playful, cheeky register with a streak of defiance toward a guarded profession. Fans of Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Masters of Illusion and Mythbusters will find similar pleasure in watching hidden mechanics come into view.
