## Synopsis

Kassandra (1992-1993) is a Venezuelan telenovela created by Delia Fiallo and aired on RCTV, a 150-episode run across five seasons of melodramatic serial storytelling. Coraima Torres plays Andreína Arocha, who is also known as Kassandra, a gypsy maiden who marries into a rich household without realizing she is the granddaughter of the man who runs it. Osvaldo Ríos plays Ignacio Contreras, also known as Luis David Contreras, a figure whose identity is bound up with the family's buried past. The engine of the series is simple and relentless: on her wedding night her husband is killed, she is blamed for the murder, and she must fight to clear her name while the truth of her origins slowly surfaces. Each episode is built from accusations, hidden letters, confrontations in grand family rooms, and romantic reversals that keep the central love story perpetually under threat. Shaped as a long, continuous soap opera rather than a case-of-the-week format, it moves at a measured pace across its thirty-episode seasons. Its tone is melodramatic, emotional and sincere, with a wistful undercurrent of injustice and longing. Set in a comfortable Venezuelan milieu of privilege and suspicion, it explores class, belonging and the cost of hidden family ties. Fans of Peregrina, Betty la fea and Rosalinda will find resonance in its heightened romance and inheritance-driven drama.
