## Synopsis

The Teacher (2016-2023) is a Polish crime drama series created for Canal+, a three-season serialized mystery with a tightly plotted arc across 26 episodes. Maciej Stuhr plays Paweł Zawadzki, a teacher who relocates to a provincial town and becomes entangled in the brutal murder of a high school girl. Around him, Grzegorz Damięcki as Grzegorz Molenda, Roma Gąsiorowska as Ewa Krawiec, Mirosław Baka as Waldemar Krynicki and Piotr Głowacki as Aspirant Rafał Papiński form a web of local officials, families and police whose loyalties shift with every answer. The engine is simple and gripping: the protagonist wants the truth, but each clue he chases pulls him deeper into a school community and town hall where fraud and favours are protected by people with everything to lose. Episodes build dense, dialogue-driven scenes of suspicion, interrogation and quiet menace, while each season widens the investigation. Tone is grim, tense and morally weighted, with an atmosphere of rain-soaked provincial routine hiding rot. Fans of Broadchurch, Top of the Lake and Twin Peaks will find resonance in its small town dread and layered mystery. The result is a patient, unsettling Polish noir where the murder is only the entry point into a community's hidden compromises.
