## Synopsis

Norsemen (2016-2020) is a Norwegian historical comedy drama series created by Jon Iver Helgaker and Jonas Torgersen for NRK1. Set in an eighth century Viking village, the series follows a community whose internal rivalries and shifting alliances are tested by new innovations that threaten its customs and way of life. The cast includes Trond Fausa Aurvåg as Rufus, Jon Øigarden as Jarl Varg, Kåre Conradi as Orm, and Silje Torp as Frøya, whose ambitions and grudges drive much of the mischief and conflict. Each season unfolds as a serialized run of six episodes, with political maneuvering, village feuds, and social change building steadily across three seasons. The tone balances broad, irreverent humor with earthy epic drama, giving a view of Viking Age Scandinavia that is both playful and grounded in its rough, everyday hardships. Fans of Vikings and Rome will find resonance in its historical scale and power politics, while those who enjoy the sly satire of Blackadder may appreciate its comic timing. The overall feel is spirited, bawdy, and warmly absurd, a show about ambition and tradition colliding in a remote northern settlement.
