## Synopsis

Yuri!!! on Ice (2016) is a Japanese animated sports romance series created for TV Asahi and produced by MAPPA. Across a single twelve-episode season of roughly twenty-three minutes each, it follows Yuuri Katsuki (voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga), a struggling figure skater on the verge of retiring, whose world is upended when he meets his idol Victor Nikiforov (Junichi Suwabe), a champion who agrees to coach him. Rival skaters Yuri Plisetsky (Koki Uchiyama) and Otabek Altin (Yoshimasa Hosoya) push him further, and the engine of the story is simple and concrete: Yuuri must rebuild his routines, confront his self-doubt and prepare for the next major tournament while the threads of rivalry and affection tighten. Each episode is built around training sessions, rink performances and competitive programs rendered with lush, fluid animation. The tone is earnest and warm, mixing sincere sports melodrama with tender romance and lighter comic moments. Fans of Haikyu!! and Free! will find resonance in its blend of athletic striving, mentorship and quiet emotional stakes, delivered as a polished, accessible anime that rewards viewers who enjoy character-driven competition.
