## Synopsis

Great Greek Myths (2016-2021) is a French documentary series created by François Busnel for ARTE, produced with the Musée du Louvre. Narrated by François Busnel, the series retells the Greek myths through original animation built from selected iconographies drawn from throughout art history, so paintings, sculptures and vases become the visual language of its storytelling. Rather than following a single protagonist, each episode follows a different mythological destiny, moving through the fates of gods, heroes and great legendary figures as a sequence of self-contained tales. The engine is the accumulation of these stories, each one carrying its own rise, transgression and downfall, so that the larger picture of the pantheon emerges episode by episode. Presented across three seasons and roughly forty episodes of about twenty-six minutes, the series is an anthology-like chronicle rather than one continuing narrative. Its tone is contemplative and erudite, with an elegant, reverent atmosphere that treats the myths as cultural heritage while still allowing their violence and passion to surface. Fans of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, Civilisations and the animated Hercules will find resonance in its blend of education, visual artistry and classical storytelling.
