## Synopsis

Star (2016-2019) is a US music drama series created by Tom Donaghy and Lee Daniels for FOX. Tough young woman Star Davis, who came up through foster care, tracks down her sister Simone and her friend Alexandra Crane, and the trio heads to Atlanta to chase music stardom. Queen Latifah plays Carlotta Brown, a figure in the music world whose path crosses theirs. The engine is ambition pushing against loyalty, rivalry, and the hard realities of breaking into the industry, with each episode mixing performance numbers and personal drama. Set in contemporary Atlanta, it runs three seasons before being canceled. Its tone is glossy and melodramatic, bold and propulsive, with an emphasis on sisterhood and the cost of fame. Fans of Empire, Glee and Pitch Perfect will find resonance in its music-fueled soap energy.
