## Synopsis

Mafia Only Kills in Summer (2016-2018) is an Italian dark comedy crime series created by Pif for Rai 1. Set in 1979 Palermo, it follows the Giammarresi family, led by the father Lorenzo Giammaresi (Claudio Gioè) and mother Pia Melfi (Anna Foglietta), along with their ten year old son Salvatore (Eduardo Buscetta) and sixteen year old daughter Angela (Angela Curri). Their struggles are ordinary ones such as school, money, marriage and neighbors, yet the Cosa Nostra runs quietly through every street and kitchen. Pif narrates in voice-over, giving the series a wry, knowing perspective on a city where the Sicilian mafia is part of daily life. Episodes are built around the family's small crises, each sharpened by a mob presence that can erupt into violence without warning. The tone blends farce, melancholy and dread, with a warm affection for its characters and an uneasy awareness of the killings around them. Across two seasons of twelve episodes each, the show keeps a light touch while hinting at the historical weight of the era. Fans of The Sopranos, Fargo and Italian political comedy will find resonance in its mix of crime, satire and domestic warmth. It is a story of how ordinary people endure extraordinary danger.
