## Synopsis

Pretty Proofreader (2016) is a Japanese workplace comedy-drama created for Nippon TV, a single-season run of ten 55-minute episodes. Satomi Ishihara plays Etsuko Kono, a 28-year-old fashion lover who dreams of becoming a fashion editor but is instead placed on the copy desk of a Tokyo publishing house, where she checks manuscripts and printed material for mistakes. Masaki Suda plays Yukito Orihara, a colleague whose presence adds a romantic thread to her daily grind, while Tsubasa Honda, Goro Kishitani and Noriko Eguchi fill out the office ensemble. The engine of the series is Etsuko's stubborn effort to make peace with a job she never wanted, as she hunts down typos, wrangles tight deadlines, and learns that careful correction can matter as much as glamour. Each episode is built around a manuscript, a printing problem or a small office crisis that gives her a chance to prove herself. The tone is breezy, warm and gently witty, with an undercurrent of wistful romance and quiet pride in craftsmanship. Fans of The Devil Wears Prada, Ugly Betty and Working!! will find a similar pleasure in an outsider finding her footing in a demanding office world.
