## Synopsis

Guyane (2017-2018) is a French crime drama series created by Fabien Nury and broadcast on Canal+. Across two seasons and sixteen fifty-two-minute episodes, it follows Vincent (Mathieu Spinosi), a twenty-year-old geology student from Paris who arrives in French Guiana for an internship at a gold mining company. He is taken under the wing of local gold lord Antoine Serra (Olivier Rabourdin), who treats him like a son and teaches him the far more lucrative and dangerous business of gold trafficking. Serra's right hand Louis (Issaka Sawadogo) does not trust the newcomer, and the outsider must prove his loyalty while the camp he helps build expands into a gold mine. Rising tensions escalate into open war with Brazilian competitors, and the search for a legendary mine drives the story deeper into the jungle. Anita (Flora Bonfanti) and Nathalie (Anne Suarez) round out the cast around the rival camps. Each episode is built from negotiations, ambushes and shifting alliances, with businessmen, gangsters, geologists and soldiers colliding in heat and mud. The mood is tense, humid and morally bleak, with a steady undercurrent of paranoia and loyalty tested by greed. Fans of Narcos and Braquo will find resonance in its crime-driven violence and compromised characters, and it suits viewers who like grounded, serialized crime stories set far from the usual European streets.
