## Synopsis

Hotel Beau Séjour (2017-2022) is a Flemish Belgian anthology mystery series created by Sanne Nuyens and Bert Van Dael for VRT 1. Its premise is simple and haunting: murder victims wake in a limbo between life and death and must solve their own killings. Each season builds around a new victim and a tight community where complicated relationships hide secrets, so the search for who killed them and why becomes a slow unraveling of guilt and buried history. Lynn Van Royen plays Kato Hoeven, whose investigation of a dead young woman drives the first run, while Gene Bervoets, Johan van Assche and Emilie De Roo anchor the surrounding web of suspects and families. The engine is the protagonist's frantic need to act from beyond life, measured against the quiet, unreadable behavior of the living. Episodes unfold in the manner of a patient crime drama, with clues hidden in ordinary domestic and community spaces. The tone is melancholic and noir-tinged, with an uneasy, rain-soaked stillness. Fans of Broadchurch, The Lovely Bones and Pushing Daisies will find resonance in its blend of grief, investigation and the supernatural. Two seasons of ten episodes each make up the run, and the story is told through self-contained cases rather than one continuing thread.
