## Synopsis

Interviews with Monster Girls (2017) is a Japanese animated slice of life comedy adapted from a manga and produced by A-1 Pictures for TOKYO MX. Set in a Japan where demi-humans, called Ajin or Demi, are slowly gaining acceptance into human society, the show follows biology teacher Tetsuo Takahashi (Junichi Suwabe), who decides to study his unusual students by questioning them directly. His three pupils, including the vampire Kyouko Machi (Minami Shinoda), the lively Hikari Takanashi (Kaede Hondo) and the sharp-tongued Sakie Satou (Yoko Hikasa), are the heart of the show. Each episode is built from classroom questions, everyday school routines and small social frictions, as the teacher tries to learn about their biology while they try to fit in with ordinary teenage life. The series runs for one season of twelve episodes and has a warm, breezy, comedic tone with a sincere undercurrent about prejudice and belonging. Its lighthearted episodic format and gentle humor make it a comfortable watch. Fans of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Monster Musume and Rosario + Vampire will find similar resonance in its mix of fantastical creatures and ordinary school life.
