## Synopsis

The Memorandum of Kyoko Okitegami (2015) is a Japanese mystery drama series created as a Nippon Television production, adapted from a novel. Yui Aragaki plays Kyoko Okitegami, a beautiful private detective with a passion for money and a memory that resets every night, so she must close each case within a single day. Her eager admirer Yakusuke Kakushidate, played by Masaki Okada, keeps getting wrongly named as the culprit in her investigations, and each morning she forgets he has ever been close to her. Supporting characters Makuru Makuma (Rio Uchida), Horo Kizunai (Mitsuhiro Oikawa) and Nuru Narikawa (Daiki Arioka) round out the investigative team. The engine of the show is the race against the clock: a fresh client, a fresh set of suspects and a day to untangle them, with a crucial secret kept on her body in magic pen as a reminder. Its ten episodes are self-contained cases stitched together by a steady romantic thread, giving a single-season run with a brisk, playful rhythm. The tone is witty and wistful, with a warm undercurrent of melancholy about intimacy that cannot survive the night. Fans of Monk and Memento will find resonance in its quirky detective hook and memory-driven premise. It is set in contemporary Japan, with the story's present tied to its 2015 broadcast.
