## Synopsis

The Bold Type (2017-2021) is a United States workplace dramedy series created by Sarah Watson for Freeform. Set in present-day New York City, it follows three close friends who work at Scarlet, a fashion-forward women's magazine. Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) is an aspiring writer hoping to make her mark in print, Kat Edison (Aisha Dee) is a digital strategist balancing ambition with her own sense of self, and Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy) is a fashion assistant pushing her way up the ladder. Their magazine chief Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin) sets the pressures that shape each episode, and the engine of the show is the friends' push to win recognition while protecting their personal lives, careers, and loyalty to one another. Each episode is built from concrete newsroom assignments, editorial fights, dating misadventures, and friendship crises that run across a five-season, serialized arc. Warm, witty, and frank, the series tackles identity, sexuality, and social causes with an optimistic energy and a glossy visual style. Fans of Sex and the City, Younger and Girls will find resonance in its sharp banter and its portrait of young women finding their voices.
