## Synopsis

The Basil Brush Show (2002-2007) is a British children's television sitcom created by Ivan Owen and produced by The Foundation for BBC One and CBBC. It runs six series of thirteen episodes each, making seventy-eight episodes in total. The glove puppet fox Basil Brush is the title character, a cheeky, self-regarding host who turns everyday situations into silly comic trouble. Christopher Pizzey plays Stephen, Michael Hayes plays Dave, and Ajay Chhabra plays Anil, and their storylines run through the household and neighbourhood comedy that surrounds the fox. Each twenty-five minute episode is built on light misunderstandings, slapstick mishaps and playful asides to the camera, so the engine of the show is simply Basil getting into scrapes and talking his way out of them. The format is episodic rather than serialized, with each episode self-contained. The tone is breezy, goofy and warm, aimed squarely at young children and their families. Fans of Sooty, Rentaghost and Art Attack will find the same gentle, puppet-driven kids comedy at its heart, delivered in a bright, unpretentious style typical of British children's programming of the period.
