## Synopsis

Raid (2000) is a Finnish national-television crime drama series created by Tapio Piirainen for Yle TV1. Based on detective stories by Harri Nykänen, this twelve-episode limited series follows Raid, a vengeful outsider and the former boyfriend of an executive at a powerful electronics concern, who is hired by her embittered father to investigate what looks like foul play behind her suicide. Raid's investigation collides with a police inquiry into a shooting at a TV studio and the deaths of several officers and executives tied to white-collar crime. Oiva Lohtander plays detective Eero Jansson, whose pursuit of the killer keeps leading back to Raid, pulling the two into an uneasy alliance. Each episode builds the tension through interrogations, corporate secrets and shifting loyalties rather than set-piece action. The mood is grim, morally murky and atmospheric, with a dark Nordic sensibility that asks how far good people will bend their principles to reach justice. Fans of Prime Suspect, The Killing and Hustle will find resonance in its layered corruption plot and compromised heroes. Ending in a bittersweet register, the series was a major award winner in Finland in its year of broadcast.
