## What critics say

Reviewers and audiences found the animated superhero team series an energetic, action-driven Saturday-morning style show, though its single season was brief and its arc was left unfinished.

## Synopsis

Wolverine and the X-Men (2009) is an American animated superhero series created by Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson for Nicktoons. Logan, the feral clawed mutant known as Wolverine (voiced by Steve Blum), leads a reunited team of X-Men alongside Professor Charles Xavier (Jim Ward), Cyclops (Nolan North), Beast (Fred Tatasciore) and Kitty Pryde (Danielle Judovits). Their engine is a standing conflict with the Mutant Response Division, a government unit hunting mutants, and a looming future that Xavier has warned must never come to pass. Each twenty-two minute episode pairs action set pieces with team dynamics, mixing fights against the hunters with personal friction among characters who have drifted apart. The single season of twenty-six episodes builds its mythology steadily rather than resolving everything, giving the story a serialized feel within a family-friendly format. Its tone is brisk and earnest, with comic book energy and a warm sense of camaraderie. Fans of X-Men: The Animated Series, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Teen Titans will find resonance in its colorful superhero team action.
