## Synopsis

The White Princess (2017) is a British-American historical drama miniseries created for STARZ, adapted from Philippa Gregory's novel of the same name. Jodie Comer plays Elizabeth of York, daughter of the former White Queen, who is pressed into a political marriage with the Lancaster victor Henry VII, played by Jacob Collins-Levy. Essie Davis plays the displaced former queen Elizabeth Woodville, while Rebecca Benson plays Margaret Pole, and Kenneth Cranham plays the scheming churchman John Morton. The engine of the eight-episode story is a fragile bargain: a marriage meant to end the civil war between the houses of York and Lancaster, undermined at every turn by loyalists, rival claimants, and courtiers who still remember the old dynasty. Each episode turns on court maneuvering, hidden alliances and the personal cost of statecraft. Set in late fifteenth century England, the series unfolds in cold stone palaces and muddy battlefields with a costume drama sensibility. Its tone is intimate and tense, mixing romance with dread and political paranoia. Fans of The White Queen, The Tudors and The Crown will find resonance in its court intrigue and its focus on women navigating dynastic power.
