## Synopsis

Seven Types of Ambiguity (2017) is an Australian miniseries created for ABC TV, a single-season limited series adapted from a novel. Its six-episode run follows a web of adults in contemporary Sydney, among them Joe Marin (Alex Dimitriades), Anna Marin (Leeanna Walsman), Simon Haywood (Xavier Samuel) and Alex Klima (Hugo Weaving), whose lives tangle after a child is taken. Each episode shifts the viewpoint to a different character, so the same events are seen through different loyalties, desires and secrets. The engine is the slow reconstruction of how one disappearance sets off a chain of consequences, exposing infidelity and strained marriages while investigators and families push for answers. Rather than a conventional procedural, the show builds its suspense from interior doubt and conflicting accounts, so each new perspective reshapes what came before. The atmosphere is intimate, unsettling and grounded in suburban and urban Australian life, with a restrained, character-driven tone. Its layered storytelling and emotional honesty suggest the morally complicated dramas of The Slap and Big Little Lies, as well as the rural-noir unease of Top of the Lake. Viewers who enjoy puzzle-like mysteries that prioritize human motives over spectacle will find much to chew on here.
