## Synopsis

The Bride of Habaek (2017) is a South Korean fantasy romcom created by Yoon Mi-Kyung for tvN, adapted from a popular webtoon and produced by No.3 Pictures. Shin Sae-kyeong plays Yoon So-A, a pragmatic neuropsychiatrist shouldering heavy debts to keep her own practice running, while Nam Joo-hyuk plays Ha Baek, a reincarnated water god whose bloodline her family has been bound to serve for generations. Lim Ju-hwan plays Shin Hoo-ye, a resort company CEO who clashes with So-A over a disputed plot of land before falling for her, turning the story into a rival suitor triangle. The engine is simple and charming: So-A tries to keep her life grounded and solvent while Ha Baek, unused to mortal ways, slowly develops feelings she has to weigh against the strangeness of a relationship with a god. Each episode mixes clinic-room patient problems, workplace sparring and supernatural complications, carried out in a contemporary Korean city where myth sits uneasily beside business deals. The single season of sixteen episodes runs as one continuing romance with a steady arc. Its tone is light and witty, warm and romantic, with flashes of playful absurdity. Fans of Goblin (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) and My Love from the Star will find resonance in its blend of supernatural romance and modern comedy.
