## Synopsis

GLOW (2017-2019) is a Netflix comedy drama series created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch for Netflix. Set in 1980s Los Angeles, it follows struggling actress Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie) and a crew of misfit women who audition for a low budget televised wrestling show, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Betty Gilpin plays Debbie Eagan, a former soap star whose life has stalled, while Marc Maron plays Sam Sylvia, the cynical director who runs the production. The engine of the show is the struggle to build a ring persona, rehearse brutal stunts, and keep a fragile show alive against cheap studio budgets and personal chaos. Each episode mixes bawdy wrestling set pieces with raw interpersonal conflict. Across three seasons of ten episodes each, the series balances irreverent humor with tender, bruised emotion. Its tone is witty, offbeat, and sincere, with a strong sense of sisterhood and reinvention. Fans of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Schitt's Creek and Ted Lasso will find resonance in its warm, underdog spirit and vivid period style.
