## Synopsis

This Country (2017-2020) is a British mockumentary sitcom created by Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper for BBC Three. Daisy May Cooper plays Kerry Mucklowe and Charlie Cooper plays Lee 'Kurtan' Mucklowe, two cousins whose days in a rural Cotswolds village are filled with half-formed schemes, awkward encounters and small-scale ambitions that never quite land. Paul Chahidi appears as the Reverend Francis Seaton, a figure whose civic duties keep colliding with the cousins' antics. The engine of the show is the gap between what Kerry and Kurtan want and what their village offers them, with each episode built from modest errands, social embarrassments and the drift of ordinary rural life. Running for three seasons of six episodes each, the series stays a loose, observational comedy rather than a continuing plot. Its handheld, documentary-style camera and deadpan performances give it a warm, cringe-prone tone that is both mortifying and tender. Fans of The Office, Early Doors and Detectorists will find resonance in its understated humor, its affection for awkward characters and its portrait of a community where nothing much happens and everyone notices.
