## Synopsis

Black Spot (2017-2019) is a Belgian French-language crime mystery series created by Mathieu Missoffe for La Une. Major Laurene Weiss (Suliane Brahim) leads an unusual police team in Villefranche, a small bordertown lost deep in a large forest where the crime rate runs six times higher than anywhere else in the region. Her investigator's engine is simple and relentless: each case she closes pulls her further into the buried secrets of the area and the people who keep them. Principal cast includes Laurent Capelluto as Franck Siriani, Renaud Rutten as Louis Hermann, and Brigitte Sy as Sabine Hennequin, with Theo Costa-Marini as Roman Barthelemy in the younger ensemble. The series runs two seasons of eight episodes each, with a self-contained feel to individual cases that accumulate into a larger mystery. Episodes unfold in a dark, suspenseful register where a sly thread of deadpan humor surfaces against grim murders, and the forest itself feels unnatural and foreboding. Atmosphere is damp, wooded and claustrophobic, and the tone recalls Twin Peaks and Hinterland for viewers who enjoy rural European crime with a supernatural undertone. Fans of Scandinavian-style procedurals and slow burn small town mysteries will find resonance here.
