## Synopsis

While You Were Sleeping (2017) is a South Korean legal romance series created for SBS, a single-season k-drama of 32 episodes. Nam Hong Ju (Suzy), who can foresee events but often cannot change them, runs a quiet life beside her widowed mother's restaurant. Across the street, rookie prosecutor Jung Jae Chan (Lee Jong-suk) and his younger brother Seung Won (Shin Jae-ha) move in, and a shared dream involving Hong Ju and ruthless attorney Lee Yu Beom (Lee Sang-yeob) pulls Jae Chan into her orbit. The engine of the show is a push and pull between prophecy and intervention: Jae Chan tries to protect Hong Ju from what she sees while building courtroom cases in the prosecutor's office, and each episode mixes a self-contained legal case with the slowly tightening bond between them. The tone is warm, witty and touching, with comedy in the workplace scenes and an emotional undercurrent about fate and whether it can be changed. Set in present-day Seoul, the series sits within the tradition of the Korean legal romance, and fans of Stranger and Lucifer will find resonance in its blend of courtroom justice, supernatural perception and romantic longing.
