## Synopsis

Total Drama Island (2007-2008) is a Canadian animated comedy series created by Jennifer Pertsch and Tom McGillis for Cartoon Network and Teletoon. Set at Camp Wawanakwa, a remote summer camp, twenty-two teenage contestants arrive to compete on a reality competition hosted by the bombastic Chris McLean (voiced by Christian Potenza). The engine is simple and sharp: two teams face challenges every few days, the losers vote one of their own off, and the eliminated player must walk the Dock of Shame to the Boat of Losers. Principal characters include the scheming Heather (voiced by Rachel Wilson), the sharp-tongued Gwen (voiced by Megan Fahlenbock), and the lovable LeShawna (voiced by Novie Edwards), each drawn with exaggerated personalities. The series runs as one 27-episode season of case-of-the-week challenges that build toward a grand prize. Its tone is cheerful, breezy and irreverent, a parody of televised survival contests with gleeful cringe humor. Fans of Survivor, Total Drama World Tour and The Amazing World of Gumball will find resonance in its satire and animated ensemble chaos.
