## Synopsis

Dimension 404 (2017) is an American science fiction anthology series created by Will Campos, Desmond Dolly, Daniel Johnson and David Welch for Hulu. A single six-episode season of roughly sixty-minute standalone stories, it takes its name and mood from the internet's 404 error code, evoking the late-night feeling of clicking onto the weird corners of the web and stumbling on events no one can explain. Each episode follows different characters in a different uncanny situation, with Robert Buckley as Adam anchoring the first tale and recurring appearances by Lea Michele as Amanda and Adrienne Barbeau as Wilma. Mark Hamill narrates throughout, his voice tying the otherwise unconnected stories together. The engine of each installment is a puzzling, unsettling premise that refuses easy explanation, so the show plays more like a set of eerie modern parables than a continuing plot. Its register is eerie, mysterious and wryly unsettling rather than gory, with a contemporary digital-age paranoia running beneath each tale. Fans of Black Mirror, The Twilight Zone and Tales from the Crypt will find resonance in its appetite for uncanny, self-contained stories that leave the viewer to sit with the unease.
