## Synopsis

Rebecka Martinsson (2017-2020) is a Swedish national-television crime drama series created by Mattias Grosin and Henrik Engström for TV4, a two-season serialized Nordic noir adapted from Åsa Larsson's novels. Ida Engvoll and Sascha Zacharias share the title role of Rebecka Martinsson, a driven lawyer who has built a career at a Stockholm firm but feels unmoored until a childhood friend's death draws her back to Kiruna, the small Arctic town she left behind. Her attempts to settle into a new life collide with a murder investigation that presses on old wounds and secrets. Eva Melander as prosecutor Anna Maria Mella and Jakob Öhrman as Krister Eriksson anchor the police and legal threads, while Ardalan Esmaili and Samuel Fröler add local and institutional tension. Each season builds a suspenseful mystery across eight episodes, with the central hunt for a killer driving the narrative forward. The atmosphere is brooding and wintry, with a cold, isolated landscape amplifying the unease. Viewers who enjoy the bleak, character-driven puzzles of Wallander, The Bridge and Twin Peaks will find resonance in its patient, dark rhythm.
