## Synopsis

Farang (2017) is a Swedish crime thriller miniseries created by Stefan Thunberg and Malin Lind Lagerlöf for C More. Across eight episodes of roughly 45 minutes, it follows Rickard (Ola Rapace), a former criminal who testified against his old associates and vanished from Sweden, abandoning his name and family. Ten years on, with a price still on his head, he scrapes out a living as a small-time crook in the back alleys of Phuket, Thailand, knowing a return home would be fatal. His engine is simple and pressing: keep himself hidden while the past keeps pulling him back. Thyra (Louise Nyvall), the teenage daughter he left behind, becomes a central emotional thread, tying his survival to the family he cannot safely reclaim. Each episode is built from the grimy textures of expatriate life, petty schemes, and dangerous dealings in a tropical port city. The show is a single contained story rather than a case-of-the-week format, and it carries a gritty, tense, melancholic register with a bruised emotional core. Fans of Breaking Bad, Ozark and Banshee will find resonance in its portrait of a man trapped between a new life and an old debt. Viewers who enjoy grounded, dirty crime stories with a human heart will find it rewarding.
