## Synopsis

Dave Chappelle (2017) is a American stand-up comedy special series created by Stan Lathan Television for Netflix. Across two blistering hour-long monologues recorded for a live audience, comedian Dave Chappelle works alone on a bare stage, with no sketch characters and no supporting cast beyond a brief opening narration by Morgan Freeman. The engine of each episode is simple: Chappelle takes a stream of personal anecdotes, public controversies and cultural habits and turns them inside out, pushing a jab until it lands as a joke and then pushing again. Each special is a single unbroken set rather than a season of storylines, making this a limited, self-contained comedy event built around one performer's timing and nerve. The tone is irreverent, confrontational and often unexpectedly tender, with moments of biting candor about race, celebrity and free speech alongside sharp, loose-limbed riffing. Fans of Eddie Murphy: Raw and Hannah Gadsby: Nanette will recognize the same direct-address intimacy and provocation, while longtime viewers of Chappelle's Show will hear the familiar voice that made his sketch work so cutting. Its tone is adult, uncensored and fearless, and it rewards viewers who want comedy that argues back.
