## Synopsis

The Red Door (2017-2023) is an Italian supernatural crime series created by Carlo Lucarelli and Giampiero Rigosi for Rai 2 and Rai 1. Policeman Leonardo Cagliostro, played by Lino Guanciale, dies early on and refuses to pass on, choosing to stay on Earth to learn how his death came about and to protect his wife Anna, played by Gabriella Pession. Each season threads his investigation through the living world, where he must work through people who can see or sense him, including Valentina Romani as Vanessa Rosic, while danger closes in around the people he loves. The story is built on a mystery engine: clues hide behind suspects, false trails pile up, and the truth about his death keeps shifting. Across three seasons and thirty-two episodes of roughly fifty minutes, the show is an ongoing serialized mystery rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in present-day Italy, it blends crime procedure with an afterlife premise, producing a melancholic, suspenseful atmosphere with moments of grief and tenderness. Fans of Ghost, Ghost Whisperer and Constantine will find resonance in its mix of supernatural investigation and emotional stakes.
