## Synopsis

Arctic Circle (2018-present) is a Finnish national-television nordic noir series created by Olli Haikka, Petja Peltomaa and Joona Tena, produced with German partners and airing on Ruutu and Viaplay. Iina Kuustonen plays Finnish policewoman Nina Kautsalo, who uncovers two dead women in an isolated cabin in the remote back country while a third fights for her life. The investigation grows stranger when a rare, deadly virus turns up in the survivor's bloodwork, and the case passes to the Finnish Bureau of Investigation. Maximilian Brückner plays German virologist Thomas Lorenz, brought in to identify and contain the pathogen. Nina and Thomas must rely on each other while juggling a serial killer hunt against an outbreak threat, and their personal lives are pulled into the danger. Set in the endless white expanse of the Arctic Circle, the show builds a bleak, claustrophobic atmosphere of cold, isolation and moral pressure. It is a serialized, multi-season crime thriller across five seasons, with each season carrying its own investigation within a continuing story. Fans of The Bridge, Trapped and Hinterland will find resonance in its brooding tone and procedural tension.
