## Synopsis

Great News (2017-2018) is a US network comedy series created by Tracey Wigfield for NBC. Andrea Martin plays Carol, a New Jersey mom whose life gets complicated when she lands an internship at the same cable news station where her daughter Katie (Briga Heelan) already works. Katie is a hard-driving producer who wants her mother out of her way, while Carol, eager to prove herself, keeps stumbling into the newsroom's petty rivalries and self-important on-air talent. Adam Campbell, Nicole Richie, John Michael Higgins and Horatio Sanz fill out the ensemble as colleagues who keep tripping over one another's ambitions. The engine of each 22-minute episode is a small workplace crisis: a botched segment, a ratings fight, an office feud that spills into family life. Across two seasons and 23 episodes, the show stays a single-camera sitcom with a brisk, breezy rhythm rather than a continuing serial. Its tone is light, sardonic and affectionate, with the newsroom satire doing most of the work. Fans of 30 Rock and The Good Place will find a similar blend of office absurdity and warm character comedy. The show was canceled after its second season, leaving its storylines open.
