## Synopsis

The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack (2008-2010) is an American animated fantasy comedy series created by Thurop Van Orman for Cartoon Network. Thurop Van Orman voices Flapjack, a young boy who grew up inside a talking whale and now sails the seas with Capt. K'nuckles, a crusty old pirate voiced by Brian Doyle-Murray. Their goal is to reach the magical Candied Island, and the journey is built from short, self-contained episodes in which the pair encounter odd sea creatures, rival buccaneers, and eccentric townsfolk along the way. Supporting characters include the sharp-tongued Bubbie, voiced by Roz Ryan, and the scheming Peppermint Larry, voiced by Jeff Bennett. The series spans three seasons and roughly ninety short episodes, each running about eleven minutes. Its tone is breezy and irreverent, with slapstick, playful banter and a gentle, good-natured warmth. Fans of SpongeBob SquarePants, The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time will find a similar mix of nautical silliness, offbeat invented worlds and affectionate character comedy in this family-friendly cartoon.
