## Synopsis

Little Boy Blue (2017) is a British true crime miniseries created for ITV1 and produced by ITV Studios. Across four 45-minute episodes, it dramatizes the real 2007 killing of eleven-year-old Rhys Jones in Croxteth, Liverpool. The story follows his mother Melanie Jones (Sinéad Keenan) and father Steve Jones (Brían F. O'Byrne) as they endure the unbearable weight of waiting, grief, and public scrutiny while the investigation grinds forward. Stephen Graham plays the senior investigating officer David Kelly, whose methodical work to identify the killer and his associates drives the narrative toward eventual arrests. Other principal players include Stephen Walters as DCI Mark Guinness and Christine Tremarco as Marie Thompson, grounding the procedural threads in the realities of a tight working class community. Rather than sensational spectacle, the series is a restrained, grief-soaked portrait of a family and a city shaken by violence against a child. Its tone is somber and measured, with the slow accumulation of evidence and the emotional toll of justice delayed. Fans of Broadchurch, Line of Duty and Hillsborough will find resonance in its grounded British realism and its focus on how real crimes ripple through ordinary lives. A complete, self-contained limited series with one season, it suits viewers seeking a serious, harrowing dramatization of a true case.
