## Synopsis

Tokyo Vampire Hotel (2017) is a Japanese horror science fiction series created by Sion Sono and released on Prime Video. Its protagonist Manami (Ami Tomite) is a young woman who, on her twenty-second birthday, witnesses a mass murder at a Tokyo pub and is marked as a child of prophecy. She is hunted by two warring vampire clans, the Draculas and the Corvins, and is meant to help the Draculas overcome the Corvins who have driven them underground. Meanwhile, a Corvin named Yamada gathers crowds of young men and women at the Hotel Requiem, insisting the world is about to end and that the hotel is the only refuge. The ten-episode run is a single continuing story, with each episode pushing the clan war and the hotel's unsettling secrets forward. The series is loud, gory, and surreal, mixing operatic violence with dark comedy and mythic prophecy in a contemporary Tokyo. Its tone is feverish and bloody, with an atmosphere of apocalyptic dread and cult-like control. Fans of Tokyo Gore Police, Blade, and Blood Ties will find resonance in its blend of stylized Japanese genre excess and vampire conflict.
