## Synopsis

Hindafing (2017-2019) is a German television dark comedy drama series created for BR Fernsehen and ARTE. Maximilian Brückner plays Alfons Zischl, the mayor of a small Bavarian village who wants to rebrand his community with a shiny mall for organic food. His scheme pulls in the whole town, and Andreas Giebel as Sepp Goldhammer and Katrin Röver as Marie Zischl are among the locals who get tangled in his growing debt and dubious obligations. Each episode is built from the small favors, backroom deals and local grudges that accumulate around a project meant to look respectable. The show runs two seasons of six episodes each, with a deliberately ended story and a modest, character-driven scale. Its tone is wry and cynical, with comedy that comes from the gap between civic pride and private greed. The rural setting, with its village council, church and small-business rivalries, gives the satire a grounded texture. Fans of Fargo, Durham County and Parks and Recreation will find resonance in its portrait of provincial ambition and communal hypocrisy, all delivered with a dry, unhurried rhythm.
