## Synopsis

White Gold (2017-2019) is a British workplace sitcom created by Damon Beesley and broadcast on BBC Two. Ed Westwick plays charismatic salesman Vincent Swan, who leads an unscrupulous sales team at a double-glazing showroom in 1980s Essex. Around him, James Buckley as Brian Fitzpatrick and Joe Thomas as Martin Lavender pursue quick commissions and bigger ambitions, while Nigel Lindsay and Lee Ross play the managers and rivals whose targets and temper keep the floor under pressure. The engine of the show is the daily hustle: pitching to nervous homeowners, bending the rules to hit quotas, and scrambling to cover the lies told the day before. Episodes are self-contained comic set pieces rather than a strict continuing mystery, spread across two seasons of six episodes each. Set in the boom-and-bust Essex of the Thatcher years, it has the bright polyester look, brash banter and sly cynicism of fans of The Office and Alan Partridge will find resonance here. The tone is cringe-inducing and sharply satirical, with moments of affection for its flawed, striving characters, and a steady undercurrent of greed and self-deception that sits beneath the laughs.
