## Synopsis

The Good Doctor (2017-2024) is an American network medical drama created by David Shore for ABC. Freddie Highmore plays Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who leaves a quiet country life to join the surgical unit of a prestigious San Francisco hospital. Richard Schiff plays Dr. Aaron Glassman, the hospital's president who gives Shaun his chance, while Nicholas Gonzalez as Dr. Neil Melendez, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park and Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick round out the surgical team. Shaun wants to save lives and be accepted, but his blunt honesty and difficulty reading people make every operation a test of trust with colleagues who doubt him. Each episode mixes a difficult diagnosis and a high-stakes surgery with the slow, personal growth of the doctors around him. The seven-season run follows one continuing story, with ongoing relationships and workplace rivalries carrying across cases. The tone is warm and sincere, with moments of humor and emotional catharsis, and the show explores empathy, belonging and the value of difference. Fans of House, Grey's Anatomy and Monk will find resonance in its blend of medical problem solving and character-driven heart.
