Reverie was a mixed-to-positive audience reception, praised for its high-concept virtual reality premise and cast but faulted for uneven pacing in its single season before cancellation.

## Synopsis

Reverie (2018) is a American network science fiction drama created by Mickey Fisher for NBC. Sarah Shahi plays Mara Kint, a former detective who reads human behavior, alongside Dennis Haysbert as Charlie Ventana and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Paul Hammond. Brought in when an advanced virtual reality program begins producing dangerous and unintended consequences, Mara must step into the blurred boundary between digital experience and real life. Each episode of this single season of ten hour-long installments pairs a fresh investigation with a growing sense that the technology itself is shaping the people who use it. The engine is the chase for answers inside a system built to feel real, where every clue may be manufactured and every witness may be compromised. The mood is tense and cerebral, with paranoia threading through sleek, technology-soaked settings and a steady unease about what memory and identity mean when a machine can rewrite them. Fans of Black Mirror, Westworld and Almost Human will find resonance in its blend of near-future speculation, character-driven investigation and moral unease. The series was canceled after its single season, so its story ends without full resolution.
