## Synopsis

SMILF (2017-2019) is a US Showtime comedy-drama series created by Frankie Shaw. Frankie Shaw plays Bridgette Bird, a 20-something single mother from Southie in Boston whose appetite for sex, romance and a career keeps running into the demands of raising her young son. Miguel Gómez plays Rafi, and Rosie O'Donnell appears as Tutu, a presence who pushes Bridgette to face her choices. Samara Weaving plays Nelson Rose Taylor, a figure from her circle of friends and rivals. The engine of the show is Bridgette's scramble to carve out a life of her own while juggling dates, auditions, odd jobs and the daily chaos of childcare, with each episode built from small, messy situations rather than a grand arc. Set in present-day working class Boston, the series is a raw, unvarnished look at young motherhood, delivered with frank humor and a bruised, affectionate tone. Its two seasons across eighteen half-hour episodes keep the focus on Bridgette's voice and rough edges. Viewers who enjoy the candid sexual frankness of Girls, the working class chaos of Shameless and the confessional wit of Fleabag will find a similar kinship here. The show was canceled after its second season, leaving its story unfinished.
