## Synopsis

Queen for Seven Days (2017) is a South Korean historical romance miniseries broadcast on KBS2, a single-season run of twenty episodes of roughly sixty-four minutes each. Park Min-young plays Shin Chae-Kyung, a noblewoman from a powerful clan who marries the crown prince, while Yeon Woo-jin plays Lee Yeok, the prince whose rise to the throne reshapes her life. Lee Dong-gun and Jang Hyun-sung round out the principal cast as rival royals and court players whose ambitions and rivalries drive the palace politics. The engine of the story is a marriage tangled in clan power, succession maneuvering and jealousy, where a woman's status can be stripped away in an instant and every alliance at court is provisional. Episodes are built around backstory, palace schemes and a love triangle that viewers find central to the drama. Set in Joseon dynasty Korea, the series has the costume and court ceremony of a traditional period drama. Its tone is melodramatic and wistful, with romance and betrayal running through its court politics. Fans of Mr. Sunshine, Kingdom and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo will find resonance in its royal setting, romantic rivalries and palace power plays.
