## Synopsis

For the People (2018-2019) is an American legal drama created by Paul William Davies for ABC, produced with the Shondaland banner. Its ensemble centers on Jill Carlan (Hope Davis), a veteran figure in a federal courthouse, and the newly minted attorneys around her, including Leonard Knox (Regé-Jean Page), Allison Adams (Jasmin Savoy Brown), and Seth Oliver (Ben Rappaport). The engine is simple and propulsive: these brand new lawyers are assigned to both the defense and the prosecution, so they face the country's most high profile and high stakes cases while their private romances and rivalries keep spilling into the courtroom. Each season builds around a run of cases in which every filing, plea deal, and jury verdict carries career-defining weight. Across two seasons and twenty episodes, the show moves at a brisk pace, mixing courtroom sparring with late-night strategy sessions and office politics. The tone is glossy and earnest, with sharp dialogue and a soap-inflected warmth that keeps the emotional stakes high. Fans of Suits, The Good Wife, and How to Get Away with Murder will find the same mix of polished advocacy and personal drama. The series was canceled after its second season, leaving its story unfinished.
