## Synopsis

The World's Most Extraordinary Homes (2017-2018) is a British factual documentary series created by Piers Taylor for BBC Two. Award-winning architect Piers Taylor and actress and property enthusiast Caroline Quentin serve as the hosts, guiding viewers through dwellings that seem to belong to the landscape itself. Across two seasons and twelve hourlong episodes, the pair visit homes built into mountains, tucked into forests, perched on coastlines and dug underground. Each episode is built around a handful of striking properties, with the presenters examining how their designers solved problems of terrain, climate and light. The engine of the show is curiosity: what kind of person would live in a house carved into a hillside, and how was it engineered. The tone is warm, admiring and gently playful, with an emphasis on wonder rather than real estate bargaining. Fans of Grand Designs and architecture-focused lifestyle television will find a similar appreciation for craft, while those who enjoy sweeping nature photography in the vein of Planet Earth II will appreciate the landscapes. The show suits family viewing and anyone who loves imaginative design.
