## Synopsis

Get Shorty (2017-2019) is a United States crime comedy series created by Davey Holmes for Epix, adapted from Elmore Leonard's 1990 novel. Chris O'Dowd plays Miles Daly, a Nevada enforcer for a murderous crime ring who wants to reinvent himself as a movie producer. He launders the gang's money through a Hollywood film project alongside Ray Romano as Rick Moreweather, a washed-up filmmaker whose career has stalled. Sean Bridgers as Louis Darnell and Lidia Porto as Amara De Escalones round out the principal cast, with Megan Stevenson as April Quinn and Carolyn Dodd as Emma Daly in the orbit of Miles's domestic life. The engine is the constant friction between criminal violence and the fragile ambitions of the film business, where every deal, script note and bad investor can turn fatal. The show runs three seasons and twenty-seven episodes, a serialized story with a sharp, wisecracking tone. Its setting is contemporary Los Angeles and the Nevada desert, with the glossy, self-regarding atmosphere of studio life contrasted against the dirt of organized crime. Fans of Barry, Justified and Entourage will find resonance in its blend of mob menace, Hollywood satire and deadpan banter.
