## Synopsis

La piloto (2017-present) is a Mexican telenovela-style crime drama broadcast on Univision and Las Estrellas. Yolanda, a woman who has dreamed her whole life of becoming a pilot, takes a job as a stewardess and becomes entangled in drug smuggling. Livia Brito Pestana plays Yolanda Cadena, with Juan Eduardo Colucho as Dave Mejía and Tommy Vásquez as Coronel Arnoldo Santamaría among the principal cast. The engine of the series is her struggle to reconcile her ambitions with the dangerous smuggling network that draws her in, with each episode building long serial entanglements of romance, betrayal and criminal pressure. Spanning two seasons and 162 episodes, it is a continuing serialized story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is melodramatic and intense, with a glossy soap-opera sensibility wrapped around a tense trafficking plot. Fans of La reina del sur and Narcos will find resonance in its blend of crime and heightened emotion, and viewers who love long-form telenovela storytelling will feel at home in its sweeping, sentimental rhythm.
