## Synopsis

HAPPY! (2017-2019) is a American crime comedy series created by Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson for Syfy, adapted from their comic. Christopher Meloni plays Nick Sax, a corrupt former police officer turned hitman whose life is upended when an imaginary blue winged horse named Happy, voiced by Patton Oswalt, appears to him with relentlessly cheerful optimism. Nick's engine is the pull between his violent work and the chaos of his own mind, as he tries to track down a kidnapped child while dodging gangsters and dirty cops. Ritchie Coster plays the crime boss Francisco Scaramucci, and Lili Mirojnick plays Detective Meredith McCarthy, who gets drawn into the investigation. Across two seasons and eighteen episodes, the show moves through brutal, bloody set pieces punctuated by absurd, surreal humor. Each episode mixes gritty urban crime with a wild, irreverent sweetness that clashes with the violence. The tone is dark, vulgar and gleefully excessive, with a neon-soaked, grimy New York feel. Fans of Preacher, Barry and Constantine will find resonance in its blend of violent antihero storytelling and supernatural absurdity. The series was canceled, leaving its story unresolved.
