## Synopsis

The King's Woman (2017) is a Chinese historical romance drama series created for Youku and Zhejiang Television, a single-season run of 48 forty-five-minute episodes. Gongsun Li (Dilraba Dilmurat), granddaughter and disciple of the military commander Gongsun Yu, has loved Jing Ke (Liu Chang) since childhood. When Jing Ke is poisoned while she shields him during an attack, Li's beauty draws the interest of the Qin ruler Ying Zheng (Vin Zhang), and she agrees to marry him to save Jing Ke. The engine of the story is that bond pulled against court politics, with rival courtiers and the emperor's ambitions tightening around her. Each episode moves through palace maneuvering, personal loyalty, and quiet longing, building a single continuing story across its run. Set in the Warring States period of ancient China, the series unfolds in costumed courts and military camps with a melancholic, romantic, and sincere register. Its tone and emotional pull will appeal to viewers who enjoy Story of Yanxi Palace and Nirvana in Fire, where a heroine's loyalty is tested inside a dynastic power struggle.
