## Synopsis

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls (2017) is an American animated miniseries created for Discovery Family, a three-episode spin-off of the My Little Pony franchise. Twilight Sparkle (voiced by Tara Strong), Rainbow Dash and Applejack (Ashleigh Ball), Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy (Andrea Libman), and Rarity (Tabitha St. Germain) are reimagined as full-time students who are also magical heroes. Each episode follows the friends as they juggle school life, friendships and dramas while a magical threat disrupts their town and they must rely on the Magic of Friendship to restore order. The stories are light, colorful and upbeat, built around everyday teenage anxieties, teamwork and the bonds between friends. Rebecca Shoichet and Kazumi Evans supply singing voices for Twilight and Rarity, and the musical numbers give the show an energetic, playful feel. Set in a contemporary American high school town, the miniseries has a cheerful, sincere and comforting register aimed at young viewers. Fans of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Sofia the First and Winx Club will find similar resonance in its gentle magic, friendship-centered storytelling and bright, whimsical world.
