## Synopsis

The Flame's Daughter (2018) is a Chinese historical romance drama produced for Youku, created by Ming Xiaoxi. Its story follows Ruge and Zhang Feng, two people whose lives are interchanged after being switched at birth. Dilraba Dilmurat plays Lie Ruge, and Vin Zhang plays Zhan Feng, with Vic Chou, Lai Yi and Ryan Zhang among the principal cast. Their relationship develops through a series of encounters that turn them toward love, but their path is bent by the machinations of a man consumed by a desire for revenge. The engine of the series is the tension between destiny and the scheming that works to undo it, with each stretch of the story layering intrigue over longing. The show unfolds as a single continuous story across one season of fifty-two episodes, with its martial arts sequences and sword duels punctuating the emotional drama. Set in a historical Chinese world of courts, clans and rivalries, it carries a melancholic, romantic register in which affection and betrayal sit close together. Fans of Ashes of Love, The Legend of Miyue and Eternal Love will find resonance in its blend of costume romance, combat and fated heartbreak.
